As Nanjing, Jiangsu Province’s capital, was badly hurt by particulate air pollution during the past days, the origin of pollution was located in neighbouring Anhui Province. Jiangsu has established strict laws to utilize 85 % of corn stalks and subsidizes farmers to find other uses, e. g. for boiler briquettes. Anhui has not yet such regulation.
