Liaoning to build first „bioenergy forest“ based on yellowhorn, plans annual 80.000 t output of aviation fuel by 2020

In a collaboration among the State Forest Energy Research Center and Chaoyang New Continent Biological Energy Co., 65 km2 of yellowhorn plants (Xanthoceras sorbifolia Bunge) plantations have already been completed. CAS QIBEBT displays demonstration program for coal flu gas purification by microalgae

The project is in conjunction with the “West-East gas pipeline” project to supply coal gas from the Western provines to East China and utilize the CO2 for microalgae growth and biodiesel production. Partner is the China Kingho Group in China’s Eastern Province Xinjiang where the plant, developed by QIBEBT, was successfully tested. CAS news release, August 30, 2013

Government report: China has established a nearly complete industrial chain of renewable energy

According to a report from the National People’s Congress, domestic wind power units share more than 90% including key technologies, and photovoltaic cell production accounts for about two-thirds of global output with strong international competitive advantage. By the end of 2012, national hydropower installed capacity was 249 million kW, installed wind power grid was 63 million kW, solar photovoltaic power generation capacity was 6.5 million kW, an area of 258 million m2 was used for solar energy water heaters, 300 million m2 were used for geothermal energy generation, and all kinds of biomass use replaced 30 million tons of standard coal. Group at CAS Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology identify protein involved in cellulose crystallization

BC1, a glycosylposphatidyl inositol anchored protein, is released into cell walls by removal of the GPI anchor and possesses a carbohydrate-binding module interacting specifically with crystalline cellulose. Zhejiang Province puts focus on “10 million new enterprise project”
