Sino-British team solves duck genome

A team of scientists from China Agricultural University, BGI, University of Edinburgh and others have completed the genome sequence of the duck (Anas platyrhynchos). Team at CAS QIBEBT improves hydrocarbon production by cyanobacteria

Based on screening of cyanobacterial strains and genetic transformation, the efficiency to produce hydrocarbons from CO2 in engineered strains was signicficantly improved, and yields of fat and hydrocarbons were improved 8 times over the wild-type strains (Anabena, Nostoc, Synechocystis, Anacystis and others).
