At a press conference held recently by the State Council Press Office, an official from the State Intellectual Property Office of China announced that the number of invention patents held in China (excluding Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan) at the end of 2023 increased by 22.4% year-on-year to 4.015 million, making China the first country in the world to hold more than 4 million patents for valid inventions.
