By standing in front of an AI-powered virtual fitting mirror, buyers no longer need to try on garments one by one. Simply by raising their hands or turning their bodies, they can virtually “try on” various knitwear designs in real time—with the fabric even showing realistic folds and movement. At the Puyuan Fashion Center in Puyuan Town, Tongxiang City, Zhejiang Province, these interactive virtual fitting terminals have become the “first stop” for buyers selecting merchandise.
Zhang Jiarui, President of the Puyuan Fashion Center, explains: “We currently have 11 AI virtual fitting mirrors installed, with products from 200 different vendors connected to the backend system. Since wholesale markets typically lack traditional fitting rooms, these AI mirrors allow buyers to quickly narrow down their choices and save time during the selection process.”
Store owner Jiang Lei has seen the benefits firsthand: “While I have 300 items on display in the shop, the backend AI system contains at least 600 products. Buyers don’t have to try everything on individually; they can see exactly how a garment looks on them at a glance. This increases the likelihood that the items they purchase will sell, while also reducing the risk of excess inventory.”
Digital platforms are also helping to facilitate expansion into overseas markets. Currently, the “Puyuan Knitwear” digital trade platform has established a global network that spans 72 countries and connects with over 1,000 retailers. Since the launch of the platform’s international version this year, more than 5 million knitwear items have been shipped worldwide, becoming part of the latest seasonal collections for many international brands.
