Chinese EV manufacturer XPENG has officially commenced small-batch prototyping of humanoid robots at its Guangzhou plant. Simultaneously, the mass production line has entered the final stage of comprehensive adjustments, marking the start of the countdown to full-scale production. This report comes from People’s Daily Online.

Prior to this, XPENG Group held an internal rally to launch the robot mass production initiative and clarified key milestones. The company plans to achieve mass production of the humanoid robots in 2026 and subsequently roll them out to XPENG showrooms and commercial facilities worldwide starting in 2027, where they will provide services such as product introductions and explanations.

In November 2025, XPENG unveiled its new-generation “IRON” humanoid robot. Touted as the “most human-like humanoid robot,” the unit features a structure mimicking the human spine, bionic muscles, and flexible artificial skin covering its entire body; it also supports customization for various body types. Its natural walking motion—remarkably close to that of a human—has drawn particular attention.
