During the 2026 World Digital Education Conference, an event on “AI + Education: Transformation, Development, and Governance,” was held in Hangzhou. At several schools in the city visitors could observe how AI is being used to strengthen education and shape diverse visions of future learning. The visits revealed both the depth and the human-centered nature of China’s educational digital transformation.
According to Tian Bingbing, Party Secretary of the Chunhui Primary School Education Group, a ‘future school’ is not simply a particular learning method. It means applying new technologies to various learning scenarios at the appropriate stage of development.”
In Chunhui Primary School’s online project-based class titled Exploring Numbers and Shapes, fifth-grade student Wang Zihe participated in lessons through an integrated system combining “platform + AI agent + data.” Using the AI system, Wang designed decorative patterns that blended Hangzhou landmarks such as Leifeng Pagoda, Broken Bridge, and the school emblem. He later transformed the design into an eco-bag using heat-transfer printing technology. Through this process, abstract mathematical thinking evolved into tangible creations such as scarves, T-shirts, and stationery pouches, making mathematics something students can “feel,” “practice,” and “create.”
The school has also introduced a big-data-driven decision-making system called “Chunhui Smart Brain.” In the school’s “digital cockpit,” a large screen displays real-time operational data for the entire school. Through a precision management system built around “one profile for each school, one profile for each teacher, and one profile for each student,” administrators are transitioning from experience-based management to data-driven management.
According to Tian, children accumulate large amounts of data through their daily learning and activities. Digital teachers can provide personalized growth plans and recommendations for each student, creating a closed-loop system of ‘data generation — data management — growth support.
