Nuclear fusion energy generates energy by mimicking the nuclear fusion reactions of the sun and is considered the “ultimate energy” for humankind. Xinhua News Agency reported.

Currently, China constructs the Compact Fusion Energy Experimental Device (BEST), located in the Future Science City in Hefei, Anhui Province. As China’s next-generation “artificial sun,” the device is tasked with achieving plasma “combustion.” According to the research plan, after completion, deuterium and tritium combustion plasma experiments will be conducted to verify the ability to operate steadily with long pulses. Furthermore, the project aims to demonstrate nuclear fusion power generation with a target output of 20 megawatts (MW) to 200 MW.
