The Chengdu Aviation Industry Corporation (CICO) Co., Ltd. has completed the maiden flight of its “long-range, quiet hybrid hydrogen energy drone.

According to a report, this drone features ultra-long endurance, quiet operation, and environmental friendliness. The UAV platform utilizes photovoltaic, hydrogen fuel cell, and lithium battery power sources for complementary advantages, achieving optimal energy management and control, increasing its endurance by more than 10% compared to single-energy power systems.

During its maiden flight, this new UAV innovatively applied an intelligent landing control algorithm, reducing environmental constraints for takeoff and landing and improving its takeoff and landing capabilities in multi-obstacle environments such as forests and mountainous areas. With the support of cutting-edge technologies such as integrated management of hybrid energy systems and autonomous navigation architecture design, this UAV can operate continuously in complex environments and perform tasks such as power line inspection, forest fire prevention, and surveying and exploration by being equipped with a variety of modular mission payloads.
