The China Meteorological Administration released the first observation images from the Fengyun-4C satellite which was launched on December 27, 2025, from China’s Xichang Satellite Launch Center. Currently, it is the world’s most comprehensive geostationary meteorological satellite as a single satellite.
All six observation instruments onboard the satellite have reached international advanced standards.
Once the C satellite enters full operational use, its ability to monitor and provide early warnings for small and medium-sized weather phenomena, as well as its ability to monitor the origins of space weather, will be greatly improved, further strengthening its role as the “first line of defense” in disaster prevention and mitigation. The Fengyun Weather Satellite will continue to support global observation, forecasting, and services as a crucial data engine for “Mazu,” China’s early warning solution for the public.
