According to the “2024 China Agricultural Science and Technology Paper and Patent International Competitiveness Analysis” announced in Beijing, China’s competitiveness index and number of scientific and technological papers published in the entire agricultural sector have remained at the top since 2018. The People’s Daily reported.
According to the report, 29 Chinese institutions were included in the top 100 international institutions’ scientific and technological paper competitiveness in the entire agricultural sector. The quality of China’s agricultural science and technology papers is also improving, with the number of papers published in CNC (Cell, Nature, Science) rising from third to second in the world between 2019 and 2023. China maintained its number one position in the world for the number of highly cited papers, and rose from fourth to first in the world for the number of papers led by international cooperation.
China’s agricultural patent competitiveness index rose from second to first for the first time. Specifically, it ranked first in the world in patent competitiveness rankings in eight technical fields:
- crop genetic,
- resources and breeding,
- animal nutrition and feed,
- animal husbandry and management,
- animal disease prevention,
- crop pest prevention,
- biological pesticides,
- agricultural product processing, and
- plant nutrition and fertilizer.
