The Bureau of Energy, Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, and the British Office Taipei, Taiwan’s equivalent of an embassy, jointly held the 4th Taiwan-UK Energy Dialogue on July 5. Experts from both Taiwanese and British government agencies and organizations were invited to share their knowledge and experiences on offshore wind power, port development policies, and the role of biomass and emission reduction policies to achieve virtually zero (net-zero) greenhouse gas emissions.
Taiwan plans to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 and wants to increase its share of renewable energy in the energy mix as one of its key strategies.
During the dialogue, Taiwan International Ports Corporation and the United Kingdom agreed to cooperate on port facilities for offshore wind power in Taiwan. In addition, Taiwan and the UK will cooperate on power grid reform.
