McDonald open first “zero-carbon” restaurant in Beijing

McDonald’s China announced the official opening of its Beijing McDonald’s Shougangyuan drive-thru restaurant on September 20. This is also China’s first “zero carbon restaurant. The store will be located in an international green building. The store is designed and built in accordance with the international green building certification system (LEED) zero-emission and zero-energy standards. A photovoltaic system covering more than 2,000 square meters has been installed on site, generating approximately 330,000 kWh of electricity annually. The system will meet the electricity needs of the store’s daily operations and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 200 tons annually.

The McDonald’s “Green Restaurant” full-set energy saving and emission reduction system will also reduce the store’s average annual electricity consumption by 35-40% from the fast food restaurant average through energy saving IoT (Internet of Things) energy consumption management system, inverter smoke exhaust system, air conditioning system, ventilation system, LED lighting, etc. The average annual power consumption of the stores is reduced by 35-40% from the average value.
