The Zhejiang Energy Xiaoshan Power Plant Energy Storage Project is the first of its kind to be built using the existing facilities and site of a retired power generator in China, and construction began in November 2021. A lithium iron phosphate battery energy storage system and battery unit total temperature monitoring method have been adopted. In the first phase of the project, 50MW/100MWh can store up to 100,000kWh of electricity. Its power grid AGC (Automatic Gain Control) frequency regulation capacity is equivalent to two 600,000-class coal-fired power generators. The total temperature monitoring can realize early warning of thermal uncontrollability of all battery units, and can buy time for fault handling.
