During test drilling in Lichuan County of Hubei Province, Sinopec found shale oil reserves of over 100 million cubic meters, albeit at a depth of over 3 km. The company is already producing 89,000 cubic meters a day there. Shale oil discoveries in Hubei, Shandong, Chongqing and Sichuan suggest that several billion cubic meters of shale oil can be produced on China’s territory.
