8-6 Photovoltaics and aquaculture will help to green the Kubuqi desert in Inner Mongolia

Zhongyuan Nuclear operates five solar power plants in the hinterland of the Kubuqi Desert, with an installed capacity of 620,000 kW and annual power generation of approximately 1.2 billion kWh. By linking the solar energy generation with tree planting, more than a dozen kinds of plants providing pine, jujube wax, licorice, and herbal medicines were already cultivated. The procedure has achieved effective quicksand fixation on 1800 hectares, protecting this important ecological zone north of China in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
