CAS Zhengzhou Fruit Research Institute reports genetic basis for peach aroma characteristics

The group around Lirong WANG has analaysed 12 gene regions associated with the characteristic taste and appearance of peaches, based on genome sequencing of 129 modern peach cultivars. For example, the acidity of a peach may be affected by the variation of plant hormone transporter gene expression, and the peache’s shape may be determined by the expression of apoptosis related proteins.
