Jilin Province issues ban on non-degradable plastic bags

Since January 1, Jilin Province banned the production and sales of non-degradable plastic bags and plastic cutlery. This is China’s first comprehensive plastic ban”. It is widely held that because biodegradable plastics do not have a price advantage, regulations will be difficult to succeed. Biodegradable plastic bags prices doubled in the meantime and prize will further restrict the use of consumers. The problem will be in the farmer’s market and in small business malls where no effective supervision can be done.”
