Physicist YU Min, “father of Chinese hydrogen bomb” receives China’s “Nobel Prize”

China’s State Preeminent Science and Technology Award 2014 the highest S&T award given in China to scientists and engineers, was handed over to Academician YU Min, 88. In 1965, Yu led a squad of scientists during a battle”, lasting over 100 days, over technological hurdles to develop the hydrogen bomb. At that time, there was only one computer that operated 10,000 calculations per second in China.
