New two-step fermentation-process for nata de coco production wins support in Hainan

The process was invented and patented by Mr ZHONG Chunyan (patent no. : ZL200810100225.9) and uses a standardized two-step fermentation process which improves coconut processing over 10 %, leading to edible cellulose which can also be used for industrial products. Production cost and environmental loads are reduced. At present, the process is being studied in Hainan where 300.000 t of palm fruits are processed per year.
