In Wuwei, Gansu Province, staff members of Gansu Billion Heng New Energy Co. were planting trees at the site of the 500,000-kW class photovoltaic plant. The project is the first phase of a large-scale wind and solar power generation base to construct solar power plants, pasture areas for ecological restoration, and windbreak areas in the Gobi Desert and wilderness areas. Underneath the solar panels, sandy soil plants such as Japanese knotweed, purple crane, and sami have been planted.
