The Tarim Oilfield of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) in Xinjiang surpassed an output of 30 million tonnes of oil equivalent in 2020. In the past 31 years, CNPC developed and built 32 oil and gas fields there, with the total output exceeding 400 million t of oil equivalent. In addition to sending gas through the West-to-East gas pipelines, the oilfield provides over 4 billion cubic meters of natural gas to southern Xinjiang every year, supplying over 4.3 million local people. The company plans to further lift its output to 40 million t of oil equivalent by 2025 and 50 million t by 2035.
