Northeast Agricultural University develops improved doramectin synthesis by metabolic engineering

Using Streptomyces avermitilis NEAU1069 as a starting strain, metabolic engineering techniques resulted in yields of 1,15 g/L, 150 times higher than the wild-type strain, which were obtained in submersed fermentation. The agricultural antibiotic is important for the control of diamondback moths and will replace chemical pesticides.
