Gansu Province tests consumer acceptance of GM food

Since January 2, 2014, GM-labeled food is offered at specially labeled counters in a supermarket in Lanzhou, Gansu province. The program is considered to help consumers make a choice between GM- and non-GM-food such as salad oil offered side by side. The idea is to discuss GM-related issues with consumers, to improve on the current GM food labeling , and to offer consumers a free choice.
