According to the National Energy Administration of China, China has completed a new energy industry chain with international competitiveness, and has manufactured more than 80% of the world’s solar photovoltaic modules and 70% of the world’s wind power equipment.
According to a speech at the 3rd Belt and Road Energy Ministers’ Meeting n Qingdao, over the past 10 years, China has reduced the average cost per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of global wind and solar power projects by 60% and 80%, respectively. China’s wind and solar power products are exported to more than 200 countries and regions around the world. They have enriched global supplies and made great contributions to the green transformation of energy and maintaining the stability of the global energy market.
China’s domestic new energy industry is also developing rapidly. In the 10 years leading up to the end of 2023, China’s wind and solar power generation capacity has increase tenfold, and the proportion of clean energy power generation capacity in the total power generation capacity has reached 58.2%. The proportion of clean energy consumption in total energy consumption has increased from 15.5% to 26.4%.
According to a spokesperson, “China has completed a complete research, development, design and integrated production system for the entire wind power and solar power industry chain. It has also broken world records for the conversion efficiency of solar cell technologies such as high-efficiency crystalline silicon and perovskite, with the conversion efficiency of mass-produced advanced crystalline silicon solar cells exceeding 25%. The maximum individual installed capacity of onshore wind turbines has exceeded 10 megawatts (MW), and an offshore wind turbine with an individual capacity of 18 MW has smoothly rolled off the line.”
