The 2024 World Robot Congress was held in Beijing from the 21st to the 25th. According to Xin Guobin, deputy minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, China held as of July 2024, more than 190,000 valid robot-related patents, accounting for about two-thirds of the world’s patents.

China has been the world’s largest industrial robot market for 11 consecutive years, accounting for more than half of the new installations in the past three years. Robot density in manufacturing is 470 units per 10,000 workers, a roughly 20-fold increase over the past decade. Service robots are being applied on a large scale in fields such as home services and medical and health care. Specialized robots are playing an important role in areas such as air and sea exploration and emergency rescue. Sales in China’s robotics industry are growing at an average annual rate of about 15%.
