The “Envision AESC Yichang Super Factory” (hereinafter referred to as the “Yichang Super Factory”) has commenced operations, and the first batch of 790-ampere-hour (Ah) large-format energy storage cells was shipped to Germany.

Construction of the Yichang Super Factory was undertaken by the China Construction Second Engineering Bureau and is proceeding in two phases. Phase I, featuring a cell production capacity of 40 GWh, began operations less than a year after construction started in October 2025. Phase II, which involves plans for 60 GWh of cell production capacity and 60 GWh of energy storage system production capacity, began construction in April of this year. Once fully operational, the facility will establish a sophisticated industrial chain capable of supplying everything from energy storage cells to complete systems.

The 790Ah cell that has entered mass production is currently one of the world’s largest prismatic wound cells. It boasts a volumetric energy density exceeding 440 watt-hours per liter (Wh/L), a charge-discharge cycle life of over 12,000 cycles, and a round-trip efficiency (RTE) of 96%. Leveraging innovations in material technology and AI-driven smart management across the manufacturing process, the development team overcame challenges related to the safety of large-format cells and quality consistency during mass production. The 790Ah cell has passed multiple safety tests and obtained certification from authoritative institutions.
