Lightweight and corrosion-resistant titanium products—ranging from eyeglass frames and “3C” products (computers, communications equipment, and consumer electronics) to everyday items like cups, pots, and bicycles—are becoming a new choice for Chinese consumers. Known as “space-age metal,” this material was once primarily used in sectors such as aerospace and deep-sea exploration. In recent years, technological advancements have led to a significant increase in titanium production and a drop in prices. This has resulted in a wider variety of titanium consumer goods, making them accessible to more buyers.
China has already become the world’s largest producer and consumer of titanium. Between 2023 and 2025, the transaction volume for titanium cookware on the e-commerce platform JD.com saw rapid growth, reaching a compound annual growth rate of 109%. Baoji City, Shaanxi Province, produces approximately one-third of the world’s titanium materials. In the 1960s, the state established a rare metal processing hub here, which became the predecessor to the current Baoti Group. The plate manufacturing plant of Baoti Titanium Industry Co., Ltd. is one of the Baoti Group’s key production facilities. According to deputy Plant Manager Zhang , by establishing an integrated production line covering everything from titanium sponge manufacturing to melting, processing, and precision machining, China has become the fourth country in the world to possess a complete titanium industrial system. As an industry leader, Baoti Group has fostered a cluster of over 600 titanium-related companies in Baoji City. Today, the city is known as “China’s Titanium Valley.”
This development has led to significant improvements in titanium manufacturing efficiency and quality, a substantial drop in the prices of final products, and a diversified product lineup. Baoti Group is now capable of producing over 500 types of titanium and titanium alloy products, laying the foundation for titanium—once a high-end material—to expand into the consumer market.
