In recent years, the National Key Laboratory of Hybrid Rice has bred third-generation hybrid rice has consistently maintained a yield of 1,000 kilograms per mu (approx. 15,000 kg/ha) per season, while seed production yields have exceeded that 200 kilograms. The number of low-cadmium rice varieties is expected to reach 55 this year; meanwhile, salt-tolerant rice varieties have achieved yields of 400 kilograms per mu per season even in environments with a salinity level of 3‰ to 5‰, thereby significantly meeting the cultivation needs of farmers across various regions.
