The Wuhan East Lake New Tech Development Zone (also known as the “China Optical Valley”) hosts a complete industrial chain covering sensor design, manufacturing, packaging, testing, and system integration has been nearly formed in Wuhan. It is currently home to more than 100 companies related to the sensor industry.  The core unit is Huazhong University of Science and Technology and has partnered with 45 leading companies and multiple universities, both upstream and downstream of the industrial chain, to build an innovation ecosystem.

Hubei Province recently issued the “Action Plan for Accelerating the Convergence and Development of the ‘World Optical Valley’ Sensor Industry Cluster (2026-30),” which calls for the province to focus on technological development in core materials, key processes, and basic devices, attracting and cultivating approximately 100 high-quality intelligent sensor companies by 2030.
