A gas power plant in Sichuan completed 168 hours of continuous rated power test operation. This marks the project’s full completion and official start of commercial operation. The project is located in the High-Tech Industrial Development Zone in Dazhou City. Phase 2 has included the construction of two new 700-megawatt (MW) H-class gas turbine power generation units, which will operate jointly with the two 350-MW F-class units from Phase 1. With a total installed capacity of 2.1 million kilowatts (kW), it has become the largest natural gas-fired power generation base in Sichuan Province.

This second phase of the project employs the world’s most advanced H-class gas turbine technology, achieving a combined cycle efficiency of 63.72%, setting a new standard for energy efficiency among power generation units of this type in China. Unit 3 began operation on August 18, 2025.

Once fully operational, the project is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1 million tons per year. It is expected to contribute to increasing the proportion of clean energy in the Sichuan power grid and serve as a model for building a new power system that integrates power sources, power grids, loads, and energy storage in the Chengdu-Chongqing (Chengdu-Chongqing) two-city economic zone.
