Guangdong Province to Build 100 10G Optical Fiber Projects by the End of the Year, More Than a Third for Factories
According to the “Guangdong Province Action Plan for the High-Quality Development of AI-Based Manufacturing (2025-27)”, Guangdong Province plans to build 100 10G optical fiber projects by the end of 2025, more than a third of which will be for factories. China News reported.
As of August 2025, Guangdong Province had installed 431,000 5G base stations and 2.529 million 10G PON (passive optical network), ranking first in China. The goal of “gigabit communications in every township, 5G in every village” has been realized.
A 400G all-optical transmission network connecting nine cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was achieved with ultra-low latency zone, 6 milliseconds across the province.
As of August 2025, Guangdong Province had more than 7,600 5G industrial virtual private networks in operation, and the number of 5G Internet of Things (IoT) terminal users had reached approximately 27 million. The “5G Factory Millions of Actions” initiative has been promoted, and 79 5G smart factories have been selected for the “National 5G Factory List” over the past three years.
