Direct communication between smartphones and communications satellites is becoming increasingly widespread. On August 27, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology proposed 19 measures, including orderly expansion of market opening, continuous development of application scenarios, and fostering and strengthening the industrial ecosystem. According to the guidelines, China’s satellite communications users are expected to exceed 10 million by 2030.
According to the director of the Institute of Technology and Standards at the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology. low-orbit satellite internet has entered the stage of large-scale network construction, with high-orbit, high-throughput satellites exceeding 100 gigabits per second (Gbps) individually, and large-scale applications of direct communication between smartphones and satellites are accelerating. Private companies are also actively promoting the construction of Internet of Things (IoT) constellations using low-orbit satellites. In the future, satellite communications will be integrated with terrestrial mobile communications and widely applied to various industries and fields, such as smartphones, automobiles, and drones, giving rise to large-scale applications for the general public and becoming deeply integrated into production and daily life.
