The “2nd Japan-China Friendship People-to-People and Cultural Exchange Forum,” co-hosted by the China Human Rights Development Foundation and the Japan-China Friendship Center, was held in Beijing on July 27th, with approximately 50 researchers from universities in both countries in attendance.
Lecturer Hayashi Teruaki of the University of Tokyo stated that Japan needs to cooperate with China and other parts of the world and pointed out that data is a source of innovation and productivity. He emphasized that data should be utilized to promote innovative social development.
Professor Badianjun of Jilin University expressed the view that the two countries could potentially cooperate on a wide range of issues, including public health, aging societies, and infectious disease prevention and control mechanisms. He argued that functional integration could also be prioritized in new security areas such as climate governance and the digital economy.
As relations between the two countries are at a crossroads, participants agreed that it is important to maintain the stability of people-to-people exchanges, constantly promote mutual understanding, and maintain the overall picture of stable development of bilateral
