With the start of operation of the Huadian Kaishengmulijeren Photovoltaic Storage No. 1 Power Plant in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the total capacity of new energy storage equipment in the region has exceeded 10 million kW, reaching 33,713,000 kWh. The scale of the equipment capacity is the number one in the western region.
Xinjiang has abundant energy resources, ranking second in China in total wind energy reserves and first in solar energy reserves. New energy power generation is intermittent and unstable, and in the autonomous region, new energy output is characterized by being large in spring and autumn and small in summer and winter, opposite to the power grid, which experiences peak loads in summer and winter. The energy storage plant thus serves as a “stabilizer” and “adjuster” to support the safe operation of the power grid, a pillar of the new energy system.
Annual charging capacity is 4,480 million kWh, discharge capacity is 3,860 million kWh, energy conversion efficiency is 86.2%, and utilization time is 1,689 hours.
