According to the “State Grid Jiangsu Power 2024 Social Responsibility Report,” Jiangsu Province’s new new energy power generation capacity in 2024 was 22.78 million kW, up 55% from the previous year, and the increase was the second largest in the state grid. Jiangsu Province’s new energy power generation capacity was 88.08 million kW, accounting for 43.2% of the total electricity, surpassing coal-fired power generation to become the largest power source. Jiangsu also led the country in terms of the increase in distributed solar power generation capacity. The cumulative installed capacity for the whole year was 45.7 million kW, an average increase of 1.5 million kW per month.
In response to the explosive growth of distributed solar power generation, Jiangsu has formulated institutional documents on the grid connection and promotion of high-quality use of distributed solar power generation in the province, guiding normative development. The province is promoting a pilot project for integrated development of solar power generation equipment on the roofs of houses in rural areas in seven villages in six prefecture-level cities. This is effectively promoting the transformation of the energy structure and supporting the achievement of the goal of China’s “double carbon” policy.
