In Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China, recently more than 16.8 million green power certificates were signed at a ceremony. The transaction volume was 16.8 billion kWh. The eight local Guangzhou companies that participated in this transaction cover multiple fields such as advanced manufacturing, data centers, and traditional industries. The transaction volume is equivalent close to three times Guangzhou’s annual green power consumption last year, and equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 7.397 million tons or planting 520 million trees.

As one of China’s first carbon peak-out trial cities, Guangzhou has been continuously deepening energy system reform and has promoted the rapid growth of green power consumption through policy guidance and market mechanism innovation.
