The Human Cell Lineage Science Research Facility started construction in Guangzhou. Its mission is to draw a map of the dynamic evolution of cells in the human life process, build a digital cell AI model, and give birth to a new paradigm of biomedical research.
This facility, a major national “14th Five-Year Plan” scientific infrastructure, is led by the CAS Guangzhou Institute of Biomedicine and Health nd is located in Guangzhou International Bio Island. The planned construction period is 4.5 years and the total construction area exceeds 50,000 square meters.
The facility will focus on innovative technologies and device development such as sample preservation and storage, spatial multi-omics, and advanced imaging, and integrate cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence to draw dynamic cell maps covering three dimensions: development, disease, and aging. In the future, the cell lineage facility is expected to use patient cell information to create a “digital patient”, preview the therapeutic effects of different treatments in the body, and achieve “tailor-made” precision treatment.
Chen Jiekai, a researcher at the Guangzhou Institute of Health, deputy commander and chief engineer of the cell lineage facility, said that the construction of this facility will produce a number of innovative scientific and technological achievements and products in life science instruments, reagents, software and data, and further strengthen the integration of AI and data resources, carry out in-depth cooperation with leading companies, and accelerate the transformation of scientific research results into clinical applications.
