Zhejiang University’s Hangzhou International Science and Technology Center recently announced the four-legged robot “Black Panther 2.0,” which was developed in collaboration with Mirror Identification Technology and Hangzhou Kaidal Welding Robot.
The robot weighs 38 kilograms and stands 63 centimeters tall. It looks like a sprinter and can run at a speed of 10 meters per second, breaking the fastest record for a four-legged robot.
The researchers have developed “carbon fiber feet that mimic the feet of a jerboa (Springmaus)” which increased its rigidity by 135% by only increasing its weight by 16%. They also customized special “running shoes” to mimic the sharp claws of a cheetah, improving its grip performance by 200%.
