According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), more than 1,200 advanced smart factories and more than 230 outstanding smart factories have been completed, and new models and business forms such as customization, flexible production, virtual manufacturing, and smart services are rapidly developing.

The scale of the smart manufacturing equipment industry is also expanding rapidly, and an ecosystem is being formed. According to MIIT, China has currently issued 469 national standards and 50 international standards for smart manufacturing, and more than 6,500 smart manufacturing system solution suppliers are providing services covering all manufacturing sectors.

Network infrastructure is the foundation of smart manufacturing. Currently, the total number of 5G base stations in China has exceeded 4.14 million, and the goal set out in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) Information and Communications Industry Development Plan of having 26 5G base stations per 10,000 people by 2025 has already been achieved.
