The world’s largest floating wind power platform with a single capacity, the Mingyang Tiancheng, was put into operation in Yangjiang, Guangdong. The Mingyang Tiancheng was developed by Mingyang Group and is equipped with two 8.3-megawatt offshore wind turbines on a single floating base, with a total power generation capacity of 16.6 megawatts. The two wind turbines are installed in parallel, and rotate in opposite directions. This design effectively increases the wind speed in the central area of the blades, and the efficiency of converting the kinetic energy of the air into electricity is accordingly increased. According to monitoring data, the power generation capacity of the two wind turbines on the Mingyang Tiancheng is 4.29% higher than that of a single wind turbine with the same wind-receiving area.
