China will shorten invention patent review period to 15 months by 2025

The State Intellectual Property Administration of China aims to accelerate the construction of an intellectual property rights protection system that supports a world-class business environment, promote the realization of high-level scientific and technological self-reliance, and promote high-quality economic development.
According to bureau officials, by 2025, the review period for invention patents will be shortened to 15 months, the trademark registration period under general circumstances will be seven months, and the trademark review sampling pass rate will be above 97%. Substantial measures will be taken to modernize the intellectual property rights protection system and protection capacity by 2027, and the modernization of the intellectual property rights protection system and protection capacity will be almost realized by 2035.
