China’s first high-pressure pure hydrogen pipeline was successfully tested at the National Pipe Network Group Pipeline Rupture Control Test Center on June 25. The project will provide technical support for large-scale, low-cost, long-distance pure hydrogen transportation in the future. The month-long test included two stages: a pipeline hydrogen filling test and a pure hydrogen explosion to verify the compatibility of the pipeline equipment with hydrogen gas, the barrier properties, and the sealing of the equipment connection points.
According to the Western Pipeline Science and Technology Service Center, China will accelerate the research and development of advanced technologies for the storage and transportation of multiple media, including hydrogen and carbon dioxide, and promote the integrated development of conventional oil and gas pipe transportation operations and new energy storage and transportation operations to support the construction of a full chain industry for the production, storage, transportation, and utilization of hydrogen energy.
