China has designated Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangdong as the nation’s first fuel cell vehicle metropolitan areas since August 2021, and a “Medium- and Long-Term Plan for the Development of the Hydrogen Energy Industry (2021-35)”  calls for hydrogen energy to become an important component of the future national energy. The plan sets a goal of increasing the number of fuel cell vehicles that use hydrogen energy to about 50,000 by 2025, and the annual production of hydrogen from renewable energy sources to 100,000-200,000 tons. The plan also calls for the popularization of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in areas such as bus routes and logistics.
