Prof. Bo Liu and Prof. Qiang Xu from the Southern University of Science and Technology, in collaboration with an international research team, for the first time used carbon dioxide as a guest molecule to simulate the structure of carbon dioxide hydrate, and used cheap guanidine sulfate to co-crystallize with carbon dioxide to form a stable inclusion, achieving the reversible capture and release of carbon dioxide under ambient temperature and pressure conditions. This is expected to be a promising method for carbon capture and storage, and the related research results were recently published in Cell Reports Substance Science.
