The Solid Hydrogen Storage Development Project of China’s National Key R&D Program recently achieved simultaneous grid connections in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province and Kunming, Yunnan Province. The project is the first in China to use solar power generation to produce solid hydrogen energy and apply it to a power system, which is of great significance for promoting large-scale hydrogen production from renewable energy and accelerating the construction of a new type of power system. People’s Daily reported.

The Guangzhou Electricity Supply Bureau Electric Hydrogen Smart Energy Station in Xiaohu Island, Nansha District, Guangzhou, has seven solid hydrogen storage units with different capacities and can store 90 kg of hydrogen gas. Southern Electric Power Grid Yunnan Power Grid Company has completed a comprehensive model base for the production, storage, and use of hydrogen energy, integrating liquid and solid hydrogen storage.
