The Guangzhou Financial City project in the East Area of International Financial City, Tianhe District, Guangzhou, achieved plus-minus zero energy consumption on March 29. The project, designed with an arcade-like “cavalcade” and solar chimneys, reduces energy consumption through the use of technologies such as large temperature difference cooling and energy-efficient fans. Electricity recovered from energy feedback devices installed in the elevators will be used for lighting in the elevator shafts. Solar panels are installed on the roof and exterior awnings to convert the collected solar energy into electrical energy, which is then supplied to the entire building. The building will achieve an overall energy conservation rate of 60%, a main building energy conservation rate of 20%, and a renewable energy utilization rate of 10%.

When completed, it will be the first near-zero energy consumption building in China with a height of over 150 meters.
