According to the 2022 Patent Index Report published by the European Patent Office on March 28, the number of patent applications from China in 2022 reached a record high of 19,041, up 15.1% from the previous year, reaching the highest growth rate among 20 major patent application countries and regions. The number of patent applications from China has more than doubled in the past five years and accounts for nearly 10% of the total number of patent applications filed at the European Patent Office.
