The laboratory is located at Zhongnan University with a donation of $5.81 million in funds from Vale.
Vale is a global mining giant with the world’s largest reserves of high-grade iron ore products and a unique advantage in supporting the low-carbon development of the steel industry. Zhongnan University has a long history in mining engineering and metallurgical engineering.
The laboratory, with a total construction area of 3,300 square meters, will be used for research related to low-carbon sintering and pellets, high-efficiency steelmaking, and hydrogen utilization. The laboratory is scheduled to be operational in the second half of this year and will be open to scientific researchers in the mining and steel industries.
