According to a dictum of Mao Zedong, “women support half of the sky”. China’s scientific society is admittedly made up of 40% women – in IT and in the life sciences, it is even half. But only a few overcome the “glass ceiling” on the way to the higher hierarchies. The government, science organizations and companies therefore want to set up more research projects led by female scientists, relax age restrictions when applying for budgets and set up a “return” fund to make it easier for pregnant and breastfeeding women to return to science.
